Mumble turns your speech into notes. This page explains what we collect, why, and who helps us do it. The short version: we use your voice and notes only to give you Mumble, we never sell them, and we never show ads.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, and the name and profile photo you choose to add. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
Your notes. The text of your notes and their titles, stored privately in your account so they sync across your devices. Only you can read them.
Your voice. While you hold the button, audio from your microphone is streamed to our speech-recognition provider to turn it into text. Mumble does not record or keep your audio. The microphone is only used while you are dictating.
Update emails. If you join the update list, we keep your email address to send occasional news about Mumble.
Who helps us
We use a small number of trusted services, only to run Mumble:
- Deepgram, to turn speech into text as you talk.
- An AI model, reached through Lovable’s AI service, when you use an AI feature. Only that note’s text is sent.
- If you add your own AI key (OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI), that note’s text is sent to that provider with your key instead. Your key is kept only in your browser; our server passes it along for that one request and never stores or logs it.
- Lovable Cloud, to host the site and store your account and notes.
- Buttondown, to send update emails to people who sign up.
If the main speech service is unavailable, Mumble may use your browser’s or device’s built-in speech recognition, which is run by your browser or phone maker under their own privacy terms.
Mumble for Chrome
The Chrome extension opens Mumble in the browser’s side panel. It asks for the microphone only so you can dictate, and it handles your data exactly as described on this page. It does not read the web pages you visit, your browsing history, or anything you type elsewhere. Notes reach other apps only when you copy and paste them yourself.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your data.
- We don’t use your voice or notes for advertising.
- We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any note in History at any time. You can leave the update list using the link in any update email. To delete your account and everything in it, email us and we’ll remove it.
Security
Your connection to Mumble is encrypted, and your notes are protected so that only your signed-in account can reach them.
